Bucket List: A Visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Mil Hurley recently checked this must-see flower show off her bucket list. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show first took place May 1913 on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The event has been held at the same 11-acre site ever since, becoming one of the most renowned flower shows globally. The centerpiece of the Chelsea Show is the Great Pavilion covering 2.9 acres of exquisite floral exhibits. Mil will give us her firsthand experience with visuals of the RHS Chelsea gardens, which represent the pinnacle of horticultural excellence with showstopping designs, innovative materials, and glorious blooms.

Mil Hurley is the owner of a local well-known and highly regarded landscaping and garden design business, A Southern Gardener which she started in 1994. Mil founded the company from her love of the outdoors developed while growing up on a 200-year-old historic family, Longview, in eastern North Carolina. She has a degree in theater from St. Mary-in-the-Woods College, which was evident while she was host of the popular Pointes of Horticulture cable TV show. However, her passion for gardening took over and she became a certified MSUE Advanced Master Gardener in 1994. Mil and her team are passionate about the beautification of the community and are dedicated to restoring, rejuvenating, and refreshing their client’s landscapes through natural practices grown from experience. Many gardens designed, installed, and maintained by Mil and her team have appeared in both the Grosse Pointe Garden Center Annual Garden Tour and the Indian Village Garden Tour.
