The Grosse Pointe Garden Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
About Us
As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, we are supported by our members, donations and fundraisers. We finance many wonderful programs, workshops, scholarships, and gardens in our community. Your dollars help fund our many activities and events.
Garden Center Lectures: Members enjoy our Annual Meeting, Sue Abbott Lecture, Trial Gardens Awards Tea, Berry Memorial Lecture, in addition to other programs/workshops. All are open to the public in our effort to expand the knowledge of gardening and conservation in our community.
Garden Tour: Our highly anticipated popular annual fundraiser is the highlight of summer, where several beautiful private gardens are on display for the public to enjoy and get inspiration for their own gardens.
Newsletters: Members enjoy our informative quarterly newsletters with committee activities and updates, gardening tips, and upcoming events and programs offered community-wide.
Scholarships: Available to recent Master Gardener graduates, who in turn donate 20 hours of gardening in our Garden Center gardens at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.
Resource Center: Groups or individuals may contact our office for current information on speakers, programming ideas, upcoming local events, volunteer opportunities, answers to your gardening and/or conservation questions, and more.
Trial Gardens: Designed around an historic millstone, with four inner plots maintained by the Herb Society, and ten outer plots planted by local garden clubs in a judged competition based on an annual theme. Awards are given to the top three designs at our Annual September Awards Tea, free to public. In 2016, the gardens received a Keep Michigan Beautiful award.
Veterans Garden: Dedicated in 2012, this Keep Michigan Beautiful award-winning garden was designed and is maintained by committed volunteers in tribute to the sacrifices our veterans have made and continue to make to reserve our freedom. It is supported entirely by donations and engraved paver funds.
